My doctoral thesis is a qualitative study of schizophrenia, particularly phenomenological and hermeneutic, with first admitted patients (Doctoral Programme in Psychotherapy, Faculty of Medicine, University of Chile). This research aims to reach a greater understanding of the illness, with a view to contributing in some way to prevention and psychotherapeutic intervention models. Psychotherapeutic approaches that focus on furthering the patients’ self-understanding and on establishing a common communicative basis of patient and therapist are of my most interest.

Discussion Topic: How is the relation between self-organisaton operational closure and the openness to the world in the living systems retainment of integrity (configuration of personal identity)?
