Gert KootstraI have a general interest in the combination of robotics, computer vision and cognitive science. My current research focusses on scene understanding for robotic grasping. The general goal is to have a robot clearing objects from a table. This involves many interesting questions, such as: what is an object? how can an object be detected and segmented from the background? how can a stable grasp be generated and executed? Within the eSMC project we approach these questions by incorporating actions and learning from experience to predict the sensory consequences of the actions.
