I am PhD student at the IHPST-University of Toronto. My work has focused on the philosophy of biology and psychology as well as general philosophy of science. I’m interested in the nature and explanatory role of the capacities of organisms and psychological agents considered as wholes. In particular, I’m interested in how a conception of the ‘commingling’ of organism and environment emerging from recent developmental biology can ground an action-centered naturalization of intentionality and rationality.

Discussion Topic: What is the explanatory pay off of taking the whole organism-environment system as the relevant unit of organization for understanding adaptive phenotypic control in general and rational behavior (intentional action) in particular?
