Johnny Marques de JesusMy actual research is about the search for a theoretical model of embodied-enactive phenomenological mind. Together with the frameworks of enactive and embodied approaches and of husserlian and analytically inspired phenomenology is the framework of mereological ontology, which establishes the categorial basis for analytical description. Developing from the actual debate between lower-order and higher-order theories about phenomenal consciousness and from selected empirical and theoretical findings in psychology, neuroscience and cognitive science, the goal of my research is to use the resources developed by some enactive and embodied theorists to structure an enactive-phenomenological-mereological analysis that philosophically describe the way in which the interrelated levels of brain-body-envorimental complex dynamical and informationally enables the conscious experience, which is not considered only as a system of types of emergent properties, states and processes synchronic and diachronically structured, but also a semiotic-phenomenal mechanism that contribute to regulate the functioning of the brain-body-environmental complex. I plan to organize my research setting as axis the analysis of temporal and spatial factors of the enactive functioning of phenomenal experience, with special attention to visual experience. Phenomenal experience and experiences without awareness – as interrelated adaptive skills of organism structured by sensorimotor patterns functioning in implicit and explicit learning processes and in recurrent habits – implies the complex interaction between: a) the bottom-up, top-down and horizontal neural processes that organize the relations between emotions, motor process, sensations, perceptions, imaginations, attention, memory and cognition; b) the adaptive system of behaviours structured by the constructions of sensorimotor patterns, which experientially couple the self-organised organism in interactional domains of reality; c) the neurophenomenological temporality, which is a enactive regulative function of the organism´s experiences and which possibly have a intimate relationship with the psychophysical laws and the timing behaviour; d) the intersubjective processes, which normatively regulate the formation of subjective experiences.

Discussion Topic: Is phenomenal experience a adaptive system of enactively acquired behaviours skills?
