Renan Moioli

Renan MoioliMy background is in Electrical and Computer Engineering, focusing on artificial intelligence and cognitive systems. I’m currently a D. Phil. Student on Cognitive Sciences. My research project focus on the interplay between the collective interaction of neuronal oscillators and behaviour. More specifically, I'm developing a model based on the Kuramoto Model of coupled phase oscillators to explore the role of neuronal synchronisation and phase towards the generation of embodied cognitive behaviours and to investigate the efficacy of such systems as practical robot controllers. My interests are mainly on the wider issues of neuronal synchronisation and phase information in the generation of embodied cognitive behaviours and its relationship in analysing communication and information processing in neuronal assemblies.

Discussion Topic: I would like to see a discussion topic further exploring how concepts of embodiment and action-related cognition should guide the way we look into neuronal activity and its correspondence to behaviour.
